Christmas Performance Standard

Measuring and improving the quality of your Christmas service.

The Christmas Performance Standard builds upon the Christmas Service Standard criteria of monitoring Christmas Services and established requirements for reporting the performance of relevant Christmas services to the Department of Christmas Affairs.

Providing a greater focus on the performance of Christmas services, the Christmas Performance Standard supports the Department of Christmas Affairs’ aim to put people, elfs and reindeer at the centre of government digital services.

It sets an approach to monitor Christmas performance across components of Christmas services and supports data-driven Christmas investment decisions. It will provide the ability to monitor Christmas services to make sure they are:

  • available
  • accessible
  • cheerful
  • meeting user needs

The criteria

  1. Implement a monitoring framework

Track and review your Christmas celebrations, ensuring standards are met and joy levels are maximised.
  2. Measure availability of your Christmas service

Check if all Christmas resources are easily available when and where they’re needed.
  3. Measure the success of your Christmas service

Collect feedback to see how well events are meeting the needs and expectations of participants.
  4. Evaluate if Christmas services are meeting user needs

Use participant responses, Christmas uptake analytics and other data points to see if Christmas services meet real needs.
  5. Analyse and report your Christmas performance

Assess each event’s outcomes, share findings with other Christmas revelers and document improvements for next year’s holiday season.

Meeting the Standard

Strategic planning

Performance data will support and monitor the Christmas ecosystem and the identification of exemplary Christmas services - or those requiring uplift, whether by magical or non-magical means.

Prioritisation

Performance data will enable evidence-based decision making to support prioritisation of new Christmas investment proposals, and understand their potential impact on Christmas experience.

Contestability

Assessment will ensure that proposals have planned for and will be able to comply with minimum performance monitoring requirements, as set out in the Christmas Performance Standard.

Assurance

Monitoring and assurance activities rom a team of specialised elves will be undertaken to determine if the Christmas service is being delivered in line with the Christmas Performance Standard as planned, and to ensure potential avenues for Grinch-like behaviour are minimised.

Operations

Monitoring and reporting will determine compliance with Christmas inclusion requirements, using Christmas compliance data and existing reporting mechanisms such as the National Gift Appropriateness Inquiry, the Global Behaviour Tracking Network and the Naughty Rehabilitation Program.
